WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 1/1 baseball earned a split of its ODAC doubleheader versus Hampden-Sydney Saturday with a 3-2 game two victory.

Shenandoah (27-3, 11-3 ODAC) rallied from a 15-7 loss in game one to down the Tigers by that 3-2 score in the nightcap.

Junior Colin Morse (7-0) threw a complete game three-hitter in downing H-SC (18-14, 7-7).

Morse struck out 12, walked four and allowed the two runs on three hits.

After Hampden-Sydney scored one run in the second and SU one in the third, Shenandoah answered the Tigers one run in the top of the fifth with two in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good.

Dan Cameron led off with a double to left center and scored as Jake Loew defeated the shift with a single through the left side.

After a double play erased Loew, Luke Nussman doubled to left and scored the game-winning run on a Donnie Forgacs single up the middle.

Morse then faced just one batter above the minimum in finishing off the contest and thanks to a pickoff to end the eighth, retired the final seven in order.

He did not allow a runner into scoring position after the fifth inning and struck out at least one batter in every inning.

Cameron and Nussman both had two hits in the win.

Zach Perkins (1-5) tossed a complete game in the losing effort. He gave up the three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out seven.

The Hornets outhit H-SC, 15-14, in the opener but left 13 men on base in dropping the 15-7 decision.

H-SC touched Hornets starter Gerard DePhillips (6-1) for eight runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings and scored a combined nine runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Jonathan Triesler (4-2) came on for starter Chase Mayberry in the middle of the fifth and allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits in 4 1/3 innings to pick up the win.

Nussman, Forgacs and Tristan Baker all had three hits in the loss.

The Hornets continue this homestand on Monday with a 4 p.m. non-league contest versus Marymount.
