Peatross lifts No. 2 LaGrange to walk-off 10 inning win over Greensboro

Billy Peatross lifted No. 2 LaGrange to a 6-5 10-inning victory over Greensboro at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium on Friday night.

The  Panthers improved to 36-4, tying them with the 2003 team for the most wins in a season. They will attempt to set a new record Saturday when the two teams play a doubleheader on Senior Day. 

Casey Bell started the 10th inning with a with a base hit to left. Bell got his 200th career hit in the eighth inning. Blake Butcher followed with an opposite field single and Blane Swift laid down a bunt single to load the bases. Peatross hit a long fly ball to center off reliever Christian Kercado (1-1) to drive in pinch-runner Grant Perry with the winning run.

Greensboro (23-18) took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the eighth. Tavin Thompson doubled down the left field line to open the inning and Bell followed with his single to put runners on the corners. Thompson came home on a wild pitch as Bell took second. Butcher reached on an infield hit and Swift's sacrifice bunt put runners at second and third. Cain Sauls pushed a bunt past the pitcher's mound as Bell scored and Butcher beat the throw home for a 5-4 lead.

The Pride tied the game in the ninth on an RBI single by Brandon Soden off reliever Jonathan Fleckenstein (6-1). Fleckenstein struck out the side in the 10th and picked up the win.

Ryan Broaderick started and went seven innings. He surrendered three runs, two of those earned, walked one and struck out six. Austin Perez gave up an unearned run in the eighth.
