Walk-Off Homer by Hilaire Hands Baruch 9-6 Extra Inning Win Against CSI

The Baruch College Bearcats won a dramatic 9-6 extra inning contest against the College of Staten Island on a rainy and overcast Saturday afternoon at the CSI Baseball Complex.

The Dolphins jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after three innings, but the Bearcats rallied to tie it in the fifth inning.

An infield RBI single by
Edwin St. Hilaireand a two run single by Gilberto Mendoza, Jr.. cut the score to 5-3. Angel Acevedothen stepped up to the plate and smacked a two run single up the middle to plate both Mendoza, Jr. and Hilaire to tie the contest.

The Dolphins took a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh, but Acevedo came through again with a two-out RBI single to score Mendoza to force extra innings.

The two teams played into the 10th inning and the Bearcats won it on a walk-off three run homer by Hilaire for the exciting win.

The two teams were scheduled to play a second game, but it was postponed by the rain and field conditions. The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow, Sunday, April 23, at 12:00 p.m. at the CSI Baseball Complex.
