ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior Ryan Henchey delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to cap off an eight-run comeback and give the Ithaca College baseball team a 12-11 victory on Sunday at Freeman Field against the University of Rochester. Ithaca has now won 10 straight games and is 20-8 on the season, while Rochester falls to 7-16.

In the bottom of the ninth, senior Trevor Thompson drew a one-out walk and then stole second. A fly out by sophomore Sam Little allowed Thompson to move up to third to set up the game-winning single to centerfield by Henchey.

Rochester jumped on the Bombers early with a two-run home run to right field on the fifth pitch of the game. The Yellowjackets' lead-off batter was hit by a pitch and then advanced two bases on a failed pick-off attempt.

In the top of the second, Rochester scored two more runs to make the score 4-0. The Yellowjackets started the inning with a walk and base hit, followed by consecutive fielder's choices. A catcher's interference loaded the bases and then a single to left field brought in a run.  After a pitching change, another run came home on the second catcher's interference call of the inning.

Ithaca got on the board in the bottom of the second inning on a two-out single to left from sophomore Matt Carey that scored classmate Adam Gallagher from second base.

A pair of hit by pitches and an errant throw on a sacrifice bunt led to Rochester's fifth run of the game in the third inning. UR then ripped a double to left to bring in two more runs, which increased its lead to 7-1.

Two more runs crossed for the Yellowjackets in the fourth on a base hit and passed ball.

The Bombers plated a run in the fifth on a single from sophomore Webb Little through the right side to bring in Carey, and then IC put three more on the board in the seventh to pull to within a 9-5 difference.

In the seventh, Ithaca drew five straight walks to push home two runs before an out was recorded, and the final run of the frame scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of junior Domenic Boresta. W. Little and senior Josh Savacool and Thompson scored for the Bombers.

Rochester answered in the top half of the eighth with two more runs on three hits to push its lead back out to 11-5, but left the bases loaded.

The Bombers tied the game up in bottom of the eighth with six runs on three hits. A bases loaded walk to S. Little started the rally and then Henchey followed with a two-run double to right to make the score 11-8. After the second out was recorded, Boresta delivered a single to center, which brought home S. Little and Henchey. After another pitching change, Carey was hit by a pitch to put two runners out, and a pinch hit RBI single by sophomore Cam Fuoti tied the game at 11-11, which set up the walk-off win in the ninth.

Freshman Matt Eiel earned his first career victory in 1.2 innings pitched. Eiel struck out two batters and gave up just one hit. Junior Chris Marinaccio also put together a solid outing in relief, as he tossed three scoreless innings and fanned two batters.

The Bombers travel to No. 14 Oswego on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. non-conference game. IC will then play Oneonta on Wednesday on No. 5 Cortland on Thursday. Ithaca returns home on Saturday and Sunday for three-games against Utica.
