SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — Senior Will Gorman (Nassau, NY/Columbia) broke two 37-year old program records, as the RIT baseball team (20-6, 14-1 Liberty League) finished a weekend sweep at Skidmore College (9-18, 4-14 Liberty League) with two dominating victories at Castle Diamond on Sunday. The Tigers won 10-0 in game one and recorded an 11-1 victory in the second contest. The win increased RIT's program-best winning streak to 13 games, and they have now swept three Liberty League series in a row.

"The boys played very well all weekend," said RIT head coach Rob Grow. "Pitching and defense continues to be strong and our offense is relentless."

Gorman broke two 37-year old program records in the first game. In the first inning, he hit his 23rd career home run, his sixth of the season and second in the weekend series as the exclamation point in a nine-run inning. The three-run shot broke the previous record, set by RIT Athletics Hall of Famer Jeff Hall '80 for the university's all-time mark. During his next at-bat, in the third inning, Gorman came back for more, and broke Hall's career mark of 138 career RBIs with a run scoring single.

Gorman was a combined 6-for-9 with four RBIs, three runs, and a home run on Sunday. Gorman is hitting .379 with six homers and 27 RBIs this season, and has hit .366 in his career to date, with 23 home runs, 139 RBIs, 111 runs scored, and 61 walks.

To go with Gorman's 3-for-4 game, in the first contest, Patrick Mylott (Aurora, OH/Western Reserve Academy) and Jason Schulz (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) followed suit with a pair of RBIs apiece, while Navada Waterman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport) and Bejamin Terzini added one RBI each. Schulz added a pair of hits, while he and Waterman each scored twice.

Jameson Moran (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) made the start on the mound for the Tigers, picking up his fourth win of the season. He allowed just four hits and added a pair of strikeouts in five innings. Ben Clough (Tolland, CT/Tolland) came in for the final two innings, retiring all six batters faced, as the duo shared RIT's first shutout of the season.

For Skidmore, Jacob Berish started the game, going four innings, but allowing all 10 runs (one earned), with two strikeouts and five walks. Jack Walter finished the final two innings, allowing just two hits and striking out one. Offensively, Mat Marino, Daniel Dasgupta, Mike Fogarty, and Ryan Strickland had one hit each.

All nine runs scored in the first inning came with two outs. Benjamin Terzini (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) reached on an error, scoring Waterman. Mylott batted in two more on an RBI single, as Daniel Zeglen (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) and Terzini scored. Schulz then scored a pair on single through the left side, sending Mylott and Mike Myers (Hamlin, NY/Brockport) home. Waterman would hit home Capra on the next at-bat, on a single through the right side. Up next was Gorman, who slammed home the three-run shot, making it 9-0.

In the third, the Tigers would add one more, as Gorman hit a single up the middle, scoring Schulz from third base.

The combination of Moran and Clough came up clutch in the final innings, as RIT retired Skidmore's final eight batters of the game.

Game two saw a lot of the same, as RIT's bats stayed warm, and the Tigers found more success on the mound. Schulz led the way with three RBIs, while Kajganich, Terzini, and Daniel Capra (North Salem, NY/North Salem) each added a pair of RBIs. Waterman also had one RBI as well. Six different Tigers crossed the plate in the game, as Mylott led the game with three scores.

On the mound, Daniel Zeglen (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) started and got his fourth win of the season, going six innings and striking out two, while allowing just one run on six hits. Connor Ewing (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and Kyle Povlock (Fairport, NY/Fairport) finished the game for the Tigers, combing for just one hit allowed and three strikeouts.

Skidmore used four different pitchers in the game. Jay Gamboa made the start, and lasted 2 2/3 innings, but got the loss for the Thoroughbreds. Offensively, Josh Brown got the lone RBI on a Steven Gilbert run in the first inning.

Skidmore got on the board first in the second game, on an RBI double by Brown, sending home Gilbert. The Tigers struck right back with a big two-out rally in the second inning. Myers scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game at one. Schulz promptly cleared the bases with a triple to right field, scoring both Mylott and Phil Sammon (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield), making it 3-1. The very next batter, Waterman, would then single on a bunt, scoring Schulz from third, and bumping the RIT lead to 4-1. Gorman singled to right field next, and would then score, along with Waterman, on RBIs by Kajganich and Terzini. RIT led 6-1 after two full innings.

The Tigers then added three more scores in the third inning. Dan Capra hit home Mylott and Sammon, on a single down the right field line, before Kajganich singled to center, sending Waterman home from second. RIT headed to the fourth inning up 9-1. RIT added scores in the fifth and sixth innings, to come away with another dominant victory, winning 11-1.

RIT is now out-scoring its opponents, 206-93 on the season and have scored at least 10 runs in a game 12 times. The Tigers now have a 3 1/2 game lead in the Liberty League standings over defending champion Union. RIT's pitching has allowed three or less runs in eight of its last nine games. Overall, RIT has allowed just 30 runs during the 13-game winning streak, while scoring 108 times.

The Tigers are back in action for a doubleheader at The College at Brockport (19-14, 10-4 SUNYAC) on Wednesday, before hosting St. Lawrence University (10-12, 8-5 Liberty League) for four games on Saturday, April 29, and Sunday, April 30. The Tigers will honor their five seniors before game one against the Saints on Saturday.
