Neiman Wins #700 as Offense Explodes in 15-5 Win over Moravian

Bethlehem, PA (April 26, 2017) - Head coach Tim Neiman became the 34th coach in the history of NCAA Division III to win 700 career games as the DeSales University baseball team exploded for 15 runs in a 15-5 route of local rival Moravian College in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

Neiman is now 700-395-5 (.639), recording his 700th career win in his 1,100th career game coached.  He is the 34th skipper in NCAA Division III history to win 700+ games and the first coach in DeSales University history (all sports) to reach that milestone.

The Bulldogs (18-14) left no doubt today was going to be the day scoring four times in the first inning, once in the second, and seven times in the fourth to open up a 12-0 lead and eventually led 14-0.

Senior Tyler Sweeneyjunior Conner Lafferty, and senior Richie Lancashire all had RBIs in the first inning and senior Mike Kacergis knocked in the second inning run.  In the fourth sophomore Tommy Epsaro had a two-run double, freshman Sergio Diaz had an RBI single, and Lancashire put the exclamation point on the inning with a grand slam to right field.

Sophomore Felix Martinez Jr. did the rest allowing just four hits over six innings, striking out four to improve to 5-1 on the year.

Sophomore Preston Amato finished the game 4-for-6 with two runs scored, senior Tommy DePaul was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Sweeney had two hits and two RBIs, Kacergis two hits and two runs, and Lancashire was 3-for-4 with six RBIs and two runs scored, earning TW Cooper Insurance Player of the Game honors.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday hosting Misericordia University in the first of three games this weekend in a battle for the top seed in the upcoming MAC Freedom postseason tournament on the line.  First pitch Friday is set for 3:30 pm at Butz Field.
