The Baruch College Bearcats began their three-game weekend series against the Bloodhounds of John Jay College by recording a 3-1 victory at MCU Park Brooklyn Cyclones on Coney Island.

Prior to the game, the team honored seniors Ryan Smith, Jasdeep Buttar, Cameron Kitt, Sean McNamara, Dan Daley, Matthew Fazio, and Robert McMahon in front of family and friends on a very sunny and warm spring day.

The visiting Bloodhounds scored their lone run in their opening at-bat on a Brian Garcia RBI single to plate R.J. Davila.

The contest was a pitching duel from there on, but the Bearcats took control and tied the game in their bottom seventh on a solo homer to left field by Edwin St. Hilaire.

They jumped ahead in the bottom eight on a sacrifice fly RBI by Jasdeep Buttar to score Gilberto Mendoza, Jr. for what stood as the winning run. St. Hilaire kept up his hot bat next with an RBI single to plate Daley for the 3-1 final score.

Ryan Smith gets the Senior Day win with two innings of solid relief and two strikeouts. Matt Fazio left the game with the score tied and gets the no decision, despite a solid line of 7IP, 5H, 1R, 1ER, 5BB and 11Ks.

With the result, the Bearcats clinch second place in the CUNYAC standings. The CUNYAC Championship Tournament schedule will be announced on Monday.

The Bearcats and Bloodhounds will play at MCU Park again tomorrow, Sunday, April 30, with a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader on John Jay's Senior Day.
