Baruch Finishes Second in CUNYAC Baseball Championship

The Bearcats finished in second place at the 2017 CUNYAC Championships hosted by the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island.

The visiting Bearcats suffered losses today of 6-3 and 5-0 to the Dolphins to finish their schedule with a 17-19 record.

The Bearcats have finished top two in each of the past nine CUNYAC Championships.

In the first 6-3 contest, the Bearcats rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the eighth inning to lead, 3-2.

Edwin St. Hilaire smacked a one-run single and Donovan Hunt followed with a two-run single to jump ahead in the scoreboard. Unfortunately, the Dolphins struck back to plate four runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure the 6-3 win to force a seventh game.

Jasdeep Buttar had another big tournament game batting 3-for-5, with a run scored. Hilaire finished with two hits.

In the second contest, the Dolphins posted a shutout to claim the title. The Bearcats recorded eight hits, but could not push any runs across the plate. 


Dan Daley, Gilberto Mendoza, Jr. and Matthew Donofrio each had two hits.
