CLEVELAND – Three Allegheny College seniors have been recognized with All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors for the 2017 season.

Designated hitter Robert DiMaggio and second baseman Jacob Shick were elected First Team All-NCAC honorees, while pitcher Corey Keenan was tabbed an Honorable Mention selection.

DiMaggio earns First Team All-NCAC accolades for the second consecutive season after closing the year with a .319 bating average (45-for-141), four home runs, 10 doubles, and 39 RBIs.  He hit safely in 27 of his 36 starts with 15 multi-hit games and opened the season on a tear, posting at least one hit in each of the Gators' first 12 games, and 17 of their first 19.

Five of DiMaggio's multi-hit efforts came against conference foes, highlighted by a three-hit, four-RBI performance in a win at Hiram on Apr. 23, and a two-hit, four-RBI effort at Oberlin on Apr. 30. In 141 at-bats and 164 plate appearances, DiMaggio struck out just eight times, while he drew 13 walks and was hit by eight pitches. For his career, DiMaggio started 110 games and batted .311, with 130 hits, 94 runs, 28 doubles, four triples, nine homers, and 90 RBIs.

Shick earns All-NCAC accolades for the third time in his career, after being recognizd with Honorable Mention honors in 2016, and Second Team accolades in 2015. The second baseman started all 40 games for the Gators during his senior campaign, batting .335 and ending the season as the team's leader in home runs (6), doubles (18), runs scored (43), and slugging percentage (.581), while tying for the team lead with 52 hits and 13 stolen bases. He also drew a team-best 20 walks and was hit by 10 pitches to bolster a .434 on-base percentage.

Shick hit safely in 33 of the Gators' 40 games, including 13 multi-hit outings, while his 18 doubles ranked first in the NCAC, and 90 total bases third, as exactly half of his hits on the season went for extra bases.  He posted five three-hit games, including three in NCAC play, while he twice hit two home runs in a game, including an Apr. 8 meeting with Wooster, and at Hiram on Apr. 23.  Over his 152-game, four-year career, Shick closed with a .322 batting average and totals of 130 runs scored, 181 hits, 47 doubles, four triples, 19 home runs, and 127 RBIs.  The 47 doubles are good for second in program history.

Keenan earns all-conference recognition for the second time in his career, after being tabbed an Honorable Mention pick in 2015.  The Gators' number-one starter throughout the season, Keenan led the team with 10 starts and 63 innings pitched, finishing with a 3-4 record and 3.69 ERA with 46 striekouts against just 21 walks. Opponents batted just .258 off of the hard-throwing righty, who threw at least five innings in all 10 starts, while going at least seven innings five different times.

In 2017, Keenan surrendered five or fewer hits in five different starts, while he tallied five or more strikeouts also five times. His top performance came on Apr. 8 against then seventh-ranked Wooster, as he worked 7.1 innings and allowed just one run on three hits with seven K's.  For his career, Keenan made 33 appearances and 20 starts, posting a 9-5 record with one save and an even 100 strikeouts against just 49 walks in 133 innings pitched. Opponents posted a batting average of just .269 against Keenan during his four-year tenure with the Gators.

NCAC champion Wooster picked up three of the league's major awards, as senior first baseman Jamie Lackner was named conference Player of the Year, senior Michael Houdek Pitcher of the Year, and Tim Pettorini Coach of the Year. Hiram College pitcher Hank Clegg was voted the NCAC Newcomer of the Year.

Allegheny finished the 2017 season with a 23-17 record, marking the Gators' fifth straight 20-plus win season.
