Chatham Baseball Drops 2018 Opener to Pitt Bradford 7-3

PITTSBURGH, PA – Feb. 27, 2018 – Despite leading 3-2 with two outs in the ninth, the Chatham University baseball team fell 7-3 to visiting Pitt Bradford in the team's 2018 season and home opener on Tuesday night at West Field. 

RECORDS: Chatham drops to 0-1 while Pitt Bradford begins the year at 1-0.

WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham will hit the road for Spring Break in Myrtle Beach, S.C. from March 4-11.

AT THE PLATE: Sophomore shortstop George Cedeno, Jr. (Passaic, N.J./Passaic) went 3-for-4 while senior first baseman Carmen Jansante (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.

Junior second baseman Paul Nussbaum (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pine-Richland) went 1-for-3 with one RBI and two walks.

ON THE MOUND: Sophomore right-hander Connor Paul (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) earned the start and went six frames in the no-decision, fanning six Panthers.

Junior righty James Bolander (Fairmont, W.V./East Fairmont) suffered the defeat, despite three strikeouts out of the bullpen.
