Baruch Loses Game 1, Tie Old Westbury in Game 2 (10-10) in Contest Shortened by Darkness

The baseball team took on the Panthers from The College at Old Westbury in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday at the Baseball Heaven Complex in Yaphank, New York. 

The Bearcats suffered an 8-0 shutout in the opener and tied 10-10 in the second contest that was suspended by darkness after seven innings.

In the opener, the Panther scored eight runs on 11 hits, while Adam Heidendfelfder earned the win (6IP, 0R, 6H, 4K) on the mound. 

Liam O'Gara had two of the six Bearcats' hits in the loss.   

In the second contest, both teams combined for 20 runs on 23 total hits for an an exciting high-scoring affair that featured six lead changes. 

The Bearcats took a three run lead in the fifth inning on a JP Ramirez two-run double. Ramirez and O'Gara would each quickly come around to score on a wild pitch to make it 7-4.

They added two more runs for a 9-4 lead in the sixth inning on an error that plated Davic Capellan and Raymond Maurer III.  

The Panthers scored three runs in their bottom six to get as close as 9-7, but the Bearcats again scored with Michael McGroarty drawing a bases loaded walk to make it 10-7.

The Panthers tied it in the bottom seventh with three runs and the contest would finish as darkness made it unable to finish.   

The team will next travel for their annual week-long trip to Fort Myers, Florida. They will open play at the Gene Cusic Classic on Wednesday with a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader against Illinois College.
