LAKELAND, Fla.--David Sevigny went 3-for-5 with two RBI and tossed two innings of relief as the Keene State College baseball team kicked off their Spring Break trip to Florida with an 8-4 win over Stockton College (N.J.) on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened
In addition to Sevigny's performance, the Owls also got strong days at the plate from Devin Springfield, who went 3-for-5 with an inside-the-park home run, a triple, and three RBI. Abe Grainger and Nate Rossi each had a pair of hits. Andrew Houde (1-1) got the start and struck out a career high seven in six innings of work, scattering three hits and one earned run.
Sevigny struck out three in two innings of relief, while adding a 3-for-5 performance at the plate with two doubles, two RBI, and scoring a run. Tyler Fitzgerald threw the ninth.
Keene State fell behind in the third on a 2-RBI double off the bat of Garrhet Reedy, but tied the game in the fifth. Sam Czel led off the frame with a walk, and moved up on Mac Struthers' groundout. Springfield followed with an inside-the-park homer to right field to tie the score. It remained tied until the seventh, when Springfield again put the Owls into the lead. Rossi singled with two out, and Springfield followed with a triple as Keene State went in front for good.
KSC tacked on five runs in the ninth inning. Struthers led off with a single, and Rossi was hit by a pitch. Springfield's groundout moved the runners up, and Connor Walsh was intentionally walked to load the bases. Pinch-hitter Tyler Gammie was walked to force home a run, and Rossi scored on a passed ball. Sevigny doubled in two more runs, and an error brought in a fifth run of the inning for the Owls.
The Ospreys pulled two runs back with a pair of unearned scores in the bottom of the ninth, but Fitzgerald induced a game ending groundout from Mike DeSenzo. Zach Fillmore (0-1) took the loss for Stockton.
Around the Horn
- It was the eighth career triple for Springfield, moving him into seventh place all-time on the KSC list for three-baggers. Kyle Morrill '12 is KSC's all-time leader in triples with 16.
- The Owls beat Stockton for the second straight year, posting a 13-8 win over the Ospreys in 2017.
- Houde's previous career high for strikeouts was six, done three different times, including last year's win over Stockton. He also struck out six against Curry College (March 15) and Plymouth State (April 18).
