The New York University baseball team stayed unbeaten with an 14-3 victory over Alfred State College on Monday, March 12. The game was played at the New York Yankees minor league spring training facility in Tampa, FL.

Cameron Serapilio-Frank shut down Alfred St.(0-7) in the top of the first inning and the Violets (8-0) answered with four runs in the home half off the inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Coltrane Tait.

Alfred St. scored a run in the fourth inning to make it 4-1, but NYU answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and six more in the fifth to break the game open.

Serapilio-Frank tossed five innings to improve to 3-0 on the season. The senior struck out three and allowed just one run, the only earned run he has allowed in 17 innings this season.

Tait and Isaac Martinez led the Violets' offense with three hits each, while Colman Hendershot was 2-for-4 with four RBI. Eleven NYU hitters combined for a season-high 17 base knocks in the win.

NOTABLES:

- Tait has now hit a home run in three straight games.

- Braeden Duff and Matthew Millus each tossed a perfect inning out of the bullpen. Duff struck out a pair.

- Ryan McLaughlin scored three times in Monday's victory.

- Through eight games NYU is hitting .352 and has pitched to a 1.48 ERA. 

The Violets will return to action on Wednesday, when they take on Alfred State in Ft. Myers. The game is slated to begin at 3pm at the Player Development Complex.
