FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Junior righthander Walter Talcott pitched a five-hit complete game shutout to lead Earlham College baseball to a 3-0 win over Washington College (Md.) on Tuesday morning at Lawnwood Complex, to open the Quakers' annual spring break trip to Florida.

Earlham remained undefeated with the victory and improved its record to 12-0. The Quakers received 16 points in the D3baseball.com poll which was released earlier on Tuesday.

Washington College fell to 9-3 with the loss.

Talcott improved his record to 3-0 after scattering five hits, yielding none after the fifth inning, while failing to issue a walk. He did not allow a batter to advance past second base after the third inning, and retired the Shoremen in order in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings to clinch the victory.

The Quakers gave Talcott run support with a single run in the third on Brian Pincura's RBI single to center field, scoring Kendal Baker with an unearned run. Baker got aboard on a three-base error by the Shoreman catcher to open the frame.

Earlham tacked on two more runs in the fourth on RBI base hits by Dre Davis and Ian Bach.

Marc Gendreau paced the Quakers with a 2-for-4 ledger at the plate for the day. Ryan Zwier was Washington College's top hitter, accounting for two of the five hits recorded by the Shoremen.

Earlham continues its 2018 spring trip on Wednesday, March 14, with a pair of games. The Quakers will face two schools from the Quaker state on Wednesday: Earlham will battle Albright College at 10:00 a.m., followed by the University of Scranton at 2:00 p.m.
