AUBURNDALE, FL - The Benedictine University baseball team opened spring break action in Florida by falling to a team receiving national recognition
UMass Dartmouth 9, Benedictine 2
• Following a quick first inning each way, UMass Dartmouth scored a pair in the top of the second on a double and a bases loaded walk
• Another run scored in the top of the third, chasing starter Frank Greco and making the lead 3-0
• Alexander Schramm tossed three scoreless frames before UMass Dartmouth tallied two more in the seventh to lead 5-0
• Benedictine fought within 5-2 in the bottom of the inning
• Jack Feeley led off with a solo homer and pinch hitter Michael Chaffin singled with two outs
• Chaffin came around to score from first on a double from leadoff man Jonathan Hodo
• UMass Dartmouth responded with four runs in the eighth to turn the momentum and seal the win
• UMass Dartmouth is receiving votes in the D3baseball.com Top 25 and has won four in a row in Florida
• Benedictine finished with seven hits in the contest, two of which came from D.J. Dillon
• Schram struck out three in his three scoreless frames
• Ryan Miller and Chad DeGroot each tossed a scoreless frame
• Six pitchers appeared in the game
