Baseball combines for 33 runs in doubleheader sweep over Valley Forge

DOVER, Del. – The offense flexed their muscle for the Wesley College baseball team in a doubleheader sweep over Valley Forge on Sunday.

Will Barton and Chris Seibert homered as Wesley picked up a 15-5 win over Valley Forge in the first game.

Seibert paced the Wolverines in the first game, going 3-for-3 with two home runs and four runs batted in. Seibert led off the second inning with a home run before launching a two-run shot to right field in the fourth inning. He also had an RBI double in the first inning. Seibert is now tied for the Wesley all-time home run record with 21 in his career.

In the first at-bat of the day for the Wesley, Barton cracked a solo homer to left-center field. Barton also drove in two more runs in the second inning.

Deshawn Aiken tallied two hits and two runs scored while Kyle Schneider's first collegiate hit was a three-run home run to left field. Jacob Roop also added an RBI double in the sixth inning.

Darin Matthews collected the win in five innings of work and two strikeouts.

Wesley batted around twice in the second inning and pushed across 14 runs in the second inning to propel the Wolverines over Valley Forge, 18-5 in the second game of the doubleheader.

13 of the 14 runs scored in the second came with two outs in the inning. Every Wesley starter reached base in the second game.

Seibert, Michael Piccirillo, Cody Dmiterchik and William Foster each notched two hits. Seibert drove in three runs while Piccirillo and Dmiterchik brought in two runs. Foster scored three times for the Wolverines.

Barton, Dmiterchik, Jarrett Wallace, John Joines and Kevin Schmitt each scored twice in the nightcap.

Ryan Devine earned the win in the second game, pitching three shutout innings of relief.

The Wolverines (6-6) will begin Capital Athletic Conference play on Wednesday when they host the St. Mary's Seahawks. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
