DEFIANCE, Ohio – Jack Wyman continues to swing a hot bat for the Albion College baseball team.

The senior pitcher/first baseman from Bloomfield Hills hit .700 (7-for-10) with three doubles and a solo homerun in the Sunday doubleheader at Defiance College.

Through 10 games this season, Wyman is hitting a team-best .409 (18-for-44). Eight of his hits have gone for extra bases, raising his slugging percentage to .705.

Defiance won both games, 6-3 and 11-7.

Albion is scheduled to celebrate its home opener Tuesday when Bluffton (Ohio) University visits Champions Stadium at Frank Joranko Field. The first pitch is set for 4:15 p.m.

Game One

Wyman started on the mound, yielding three runs on six hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out seven.

The Britons got a run back in the sixth. Colton Rydlewski drew a two-out walk and a pair of Defiance errors moved him over to third base. He scored on Edward Gietzen's single.

Albion was unable to get a shutdown inning after scoring, however, as Defiance plated a pair of runs with two out in the bottom half of the frame.

James Spilko produced Albion's other run, sending a double to the left-center gap to push Wyman across the plate.

Game Two

Hits were 16-13 in favor of Defiance.

The host Yellow Jackets scored four times in the first, added a run in the second, two more in the third and one in the fourth to build an 8-2 lead.

Second baseman Kellan Huang delivered three hits and three RBI and scored two runs for the Britons. He hit a leadoff homerun in the third. It was the second homerun of his collegiate career.

Cameron Doornweerd and James Spilko also had two hits each for Albion.
