Chatham Baseball Drops Both Games at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, PA - March 19, 2018 – Despite holding leads in the program's first-ever Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) games, the Chatham University baseball team fell twice on Monday at Geneva.

RECORDS: Chatham drops to 6-7 (0-2 PAC) while Geneva improves to 11-2 (2-0 PAC) and is on a nine-game winning streak.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars will host Hiram in a non-conference weekend series from March 24-25 at West Field.

GAME ONE (Geneva 8, Chatham 7 – 10 innings): Despite leading 6-0, the Cougars fell in extra innings. 

Sophomore DH Justin Silvious (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) finished the opener 2-for-4 with two RBI and first-year catcher Tyler Dodson (Courtland, Va./Southampton Academy) went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

Senior first baseman Carmen Jansante (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and first-year outfielder Jon Scarsella (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) hit a double and triple, respectively, to pace the Chatham offense, as the Cougars finished with 10 hits.

Sophomore right-hander Connor Paul (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) got the ball to start and tossed five innings, fanning four. Junior righty James Bolander (Fairmont, W.V./East Fairmont) and senior righty Austin Ferris (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) appeared out of the bullpen.

GAME TWO (Geneva 12, Chatham 7): Silvious and sophomore third baseman Cameron Moeller (Blacklick, Ohio/Licking Heights) both drove in two runs.

Sophomore outfielder Drew Brannon (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) and sophomore shortstop George Cedeno, Jr. (Passaic, N.J./Passaic) both collected two hits apiece.

Sophomore right-hander Adam Cerar (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic) pitched four innings of long relief for the Cougars.
