Memphis - Rhodes baseball is now 14-10 on the year after recording 14 hits in their 9-6 victory over Huntingdon College Tuesday afternoon.

It was a breezy, overcast and cool day at Stauffer Field. After a relatively long first inning which lasted about 40 minutes, Huntingdon led 2-1. In the bottom of the third inning, Ryan Palermo lofted one to right field, which hit the foul pole and bounced back infield for a home run. Then with two outs and Jacob Telli on third, Nick Bosma hit a ball to deep left center. Huntingdon's center fielder almost made the catch over his shoulder after his long run, but couldn't quite handle it, ultimately then running into the outfield fence. His throw to the cutoff man dribbled in and Bosma raced home, sliding on the turf across the plate as the ball came to the catcher for an inside the park home run.

On a squeeze bunt by Zach Liebenson, placed perfectly up the first base line, Huntingdon's first baseman and pitcher almost collided, allowing all runners to advance safely with the ball untouched to give Rhodes a 5-3 lead in the fourth. Palermo then grounded out to the shortstop to earn his second RBI of the game which gave the Lynx a three-run advantage.

In the fifth, Will Heurtin led off with a sharp hit towards third and Bosma followed up with a walk to put runners in scoring position for Zac Lange. With two strikes, Lange fouled out on a bunt attempt but the Lynx both stole a base after which designated hitter John Medich walked to load the bases. Levi Greenberg lofted a ball to left field for the sacrifice fly to five Rhodes a four-run lead. Paul Giacomazzi then roped a single up the middle to give the Lynx an 8-3 lead as Bosma crossed home.

The Lynx tallied a lone run in the bottom of the eighth and after several pinch hitters and defensive substitutions for both teams, Huntingdon scored three runs in the ninth as Rhodes walked away with a win after Matt Dale ended the game on a swinging strikeout by Joseph Calvert.

It was a bullpen day for the Lynx who started out with Andy Shreves. After two innings, Ben South went to the mound and allowed zero hits across three innings to pick up his first collegiate win. Rhodes was down 3-1 and led 8-3 when South left the game. Alex Garrett, Will Vance, Carter King and Dale all pitched an inning. Huntingdon tallied just four hits in the game.

Medich finished the game three-of-three with a walk, double and run scored while Giacomazzi went three-of-four with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI.

Rhodes will look ahead to this weekend's games against SAA opponent Centre College, originally scheduled to play in Danville, Ky.
