Memphis - With the Lynx sitting in second and Centre third in the Southern Athletic Association before this weeknd, Rhodes' two wins over the Colonels Saturday propelled them to first in the conference standings after taking all three games in the series. The Lynx continued to bat first in both games Saturday.

Game one
Trey Sledge struck out Centre for the first and third outs of the first two innings before the Lynx posted three runs on three hits in the third inning. Jacob Telli recorded the game-winning RBI when he singled to right field and Zach Liebenson scored. Nick Bosma crushed a bomb to dead center to lead off the eighth inning and gives Rhodes a 4-0 lead.

Sledge held Centre scoreless through seven innings while striking out eight Colonels. He left the game in the eighth with runners on first and third and was replaced by Nathan MirochnickMirochnick walked his first batter to load the bases but had a hand in each of the three outs to follow. He earned the first out on a strikoute, then roped up the grounder, tossed it home for the force out as Telli then fired to first for the double play to end the eighth.

After Centre walked and doubled to lead off the bottom of the ninth, Bosma came to the mound with runners on second and third. A popout to the shortstop, followed by a sacrifice fly to right field erased the shutout, but Bosma earned his eighth save on a strikeout.

Game two
John Medich and the Lynx fell behind early after Centre took a 2-0 lead. The Lynx pulled with one after Bosma doubled in Jacob Telli in the top of the fourth. Medich allowed zero hits in the third, fourth and fifth innings as he struck out to Colonels in each of the latter two innings. After a scoreless fifth, and with two outs, Will Heurtin and Bosma both singled in the sixth. Centre brought in Drew Schacht from left field to pitch. Brady John pinch hit and walked to load the bases. With a 2-1 count, third baseman Zac Lange hit the game-winning grand slam to the left field bleachers to give Rhodes a 5-2 lead.

Bosma relieved Medich for the final two innings and his ninth save of the year. Centre scored their third run on a solo homer in the sixth and put Lynx fans on edge with one run in the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh with a 3-2 count and one out, freshman Chris Esselman fouled off multiple pitches to the left before lining the ball sharply between second and Heurtin as the outfield umpire had to duck to avoid getting hit. The Colonels scored to cut Rhodes' lead to one.

Rhodes, who is now 17-10 overall and 9-3 in SAA play, will look ahead to a big series against Birmingham-Southern at home next weekend. The doubleheader at Stauffer Field will begin on Friday, March 30th at noon.
