Dave Tatoian Notches Career RBI #100 In Gwynedd Mercy Win At Alvernia

READING, PA. -- Dave Tatoian had quite the day in helping the Gwynedd Mercy Baseball Team to a 7-6 win at long-time rival Alvernia on Wednesday afternoon.

The junior recorded his 100th career RBI and earned a victory on the mound in relief for the Griffins.

Tatoian entered the game in the bottom of the seventh with runners on second and third with just one out. He got out of the jam, inducing a fielder's choice play at the plate and a ground out. He then followed in the top of the eighth with a two-out RBI single to plate Nick Mulvey for the career milestone. Tatoian becomes the tenth player in program history to reach the 100 runs batted in mark.

Ryan Keen and Shaughn Wright both added three hits and RBI on the day. Keen also scored three runs.

In their first at bat, Keen put the Griffins on the scoreboard early when he doubled home Mulvey. He then advanced to third on a passed ball and then score on a wild pitch to get out to a 2-0 lead.Keen would strike again in the third when he would start a rally with a single. Tatoian and Wright followed with singles to load the bases. Josh Lopez made it 3-0 with his sac fly to plate Keen. However the Golden Wolves would respond in the home half of the frame, plating three runs to tie the contest 3-3 after three full innings of play.

Gwynedd would retake the lead (4-3) in the fourth scoring Tommy Nardini on a two-out Alvernia error. However Alvernia respond again, this time in the fifth to plate a pair and lead 5-4 .

The Griffins would again take advantage of a pair of Golden Wovles miscues in the seventh, to knot the game up at 5-5. Alvernia looked rally in the home half of the inning, but Tatoian came on and to strand a pair of runners on the basepaths..

With two outs in the eighth, Nick Mulvey and Keen would reach on singles. Tatoian and Wright would follow plating both runners for a 7-5 advantage.

Alvernia did not go quietly in their home half, scoring on a one-out double to cut the advantage to just one (7-6). With runners on first and second Tatoian would induce a fly out and line out for the victory.

The Griffins finished the day with 10 hits and just one error while Alvernia recorded 13 hits while making five errors.

GMercyU returns back to action tomorrow traveling to Ursinus College. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
