Union, N.J. (4/5/18) – Southpaw Christopher Rossi tossed a complete game, striking out nine, to help the Kean University baseball team top Ramapo College, 3-1, on Thursday afternoon in NJAC action.

Rossi (2-0) allowed just one run and scattered six hits as Kean improved to 2-1 in conference play and 11-13 overall.

Anthony Kuzmenko was 3-for-4 with two doubles for the Roadrunners who fall to 14-8 and 1-2 in the NJAC.

The Cougars pushed across two runs in the second as Nick Polizzano reached on a leadoff walk and Frank LoGiudice followed after hitting a ball up the middle that was fielded, but not in time to catch Polizzano at second.  Jimi Fitzgerald moved both runners into scoring position with a sacrifice and Steve Santigate brought home the game's first run with an RBI infield single.  Tim Huxen later made it 2-0 with an RBI groundout.

Kean added to their lead with a single run in the sixth as Matt Krupa got aboard with a one-out single.  Polizzano then lined a ball deep in the gap in right center for a double, scoring Krupa, and giving the Cougars a 3-0 lead.

Ramapo erased the shutout in the seventh, scratching across one run.  Kuzmenko lined a two-out double, bringing home Liam Duffy who reached on a one-out walk.

Kyle Haag suffered the loss.  Haag (0-3) allowed all three runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

The two teams will square off again tomorrow in Mahwah at 3:30 p.m.
