DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Led by junior first baseman Jose Vasquez's (Roxbury, Mass.) four-hit performance alongside sophomore Nate Tellier's (Attleboro, Mass.) five RBI outing, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth earned its 1,000^th win in program history in their 13-5 defeat of Roger Williams at the UMD baseball field on Thursday afternoon.

How it Happened

Continuing to do damage in the second inning of ballgames, the Corsairs made today's non-conference clash no exception by posting a four spot against Hawk southpaw Mike Cardell (Duxbury, Mass.). Tellier was responsible for the big bop of the frame as his double down the left field line unloaded the bases to extend the Corsair lead to 4-0. The Blue and Gold then came back in the fourth and fifth innings with a pair of runs in each turn at the plate, helped by Vasquez and his deposit into the trees behind the left field wall for a two-run dinger – his first of the season.

Roger Williams' bats withstood the cold weather as they heated up in the eighth. Junior infielder Anthony Dominguez (Chester, N.J.) dunked a double into left center that drove home freshman leadoff hitter Dean DePreta (Stamford, Conn.). Teammate Brandon Jenkins (East Bridgewater, Mass.) then smashed a ball to the hot corner, hitting off the glove of third baseman Mike Knell (Dennis, Mass.) that trickled towards the center of the diamond. Dominguez, who never broke his stride after hustling to third, continued on to race home and scored by the time an infielder could get to the loose ball making the score 9-2 in favor of the hosts.

UMass Dartmouth came right back to redeem the happenings in the away half of the frame with four more in the bottom half, highlighted by another run-producing hit by Tellier – this time, a single to left that scored Vasquez. Junior outfielder Chris Wood (Berkley, Mass.) also got in on the action by driving a ball the opposite way for a double to score two.

The Hawks put three on the board in the ninth, but junior reliever Chase Hussey (Claremont, N.H.) got the final out for the squad's milestone victory.

• Current head coach Bob Prince now sits at 131 wins at the helm for the Corsairs. Preceding skipper Bob Curran earned 80, following in the footsteps of Bruce Wheeler - who led the Blue and Gold to 746 in his career.
• Vasquez tied his career-high of four hits at the dish which he first accomplished nearly a year ago to the day – Apr. 5, 2017 at Salve Regina. The then-sophomore went 4-for-4 with 5 RBI.
• The Roxbury, Mass. native crossed the plate a career-high four instances in the victory.
• Tellier extends his reached-base streak to 16, accounting for every single contest thus far.
• Making his first start of the season at second base, the sophomore picked up a career-best five RBI.
• Seven different members of UMass Dartmouth scored, and four scored multiple times.
• With a four-spot in the second stanza today, the Blue and Gold continue their trend of capitalizing on offense in the second inning of ballgames; on the year, they have scored 22 in the aforementioned frame.
• The pitching has been just as productive as the offense, helping the Corsairs outscore opponents by a 102-62 margin thus far on the year.
