Keuka College Swept at Lancaster Bible College

LANCASTER, Pa. — The Keuka College Baseball team lost a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference games on Friday at Lancaster Bible College in Pennsylvania.

Keuka College (7-11, 1-3 NEAC) lost the opener to the Chargers 6-3. The Wolves then fell in the nightcap 13-11 on Friday.

Keuka College got on the board first as they loaded the bases with two-outs in the first inning. Tyler Krowiak (Endwell, N.Y. / Seton Catholic) was hit by the pitch to score the run and give Keuka a 1-0 lead.

Lancaster Bible College tied the game in the bottom of the second, but the Wolves regained the lead in the fifth. Kyle Colegrove (Elkland, Pa. / Williamson) continued his hot hitting with an RBI single to center to score Dakota Skinner (Waverly, N.Y. / Tioga), making it 2-1.

The Chargers once again had a response. Lancaster scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead. They then scored three insurance runs in the sixth and led 6-2 going to the seventh inning. Keuka got one back in the inning and brought the tying run to the plate with two-outs. However, Lancaster Bible got a groundout to end the game with a 6-3 Charger victory.

Lead Wolf: Kyle Colegrove continued his hot hitting with a pair of hits in game one against Lancaster Bible College. In his last four games, Colegrove has eight hits in 14 at-bats. Overall on the season, he leads Keuka College with a .475 batting average.

The Keuka College offense came out on fire in game two against the Chargers. The first three batters reached for the Wolves as they started the game with the bases loaded. Tyler Krowiak delivered a single to drive in a pair. That started a run of four straight batters with RBIs. Alec Bowie (Sparta, N.J. / Sparta) had an RBI single as did Anthony Mashewske (Newark, N.Y. / Newark). Sean Sheets (Manchester, N.Y. / Red Jacket) then plated a run on a fielder's choice. With two outs, the Wolves loaded the bases again and scored a pair of runs on a pair of Chargers errors as Keuka led 7-0 after the top of the first inning.

Lancaster Bible College scored one run in the first inning and then cut the Keuka lead to one with five in the second. After tying it in third, the Chargers took the lead with two runs in the fourth and added to it in the fifth.

Trailing 10-7, the Wolves took the lead back in the seventh inning. Mashewske led the seventh off with a single and Sean Sheets followed that with a double. They both scored on a Tyler Freedman (Rochester, N.Y. / Aquinas) double. Keuka College tied the game on a fielder's choice and took the lead as Tyler Krowiak doubled to right field to give the Wolves an 11-10 advantage.

The Chargers were unfazed and responded with three more runs in the bottom of the seventh for the 13-11 lead. Both teams would post zeros in the final innings as the Wolves fell to the Chargers 13-11 in game two.

Lead Wolf: Coming back from injury for Keuka and getting his first starts since the Florida trip, Tyler Krowiak had a standout game for the Wolves in game two. Krowiak tied his career-high a pair of doubles as a part of a three-hit, three RBI performance.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves remain on their southern conference trip on Saturday as Keuka College will go to our nation's capital to face Gallaudet University. Keuka College is 8-8 all-time against Gallaudet, but the Wolves have swept the season series with the Bison in each of the last three seasons.
