Scranton Can’t Slow Misericordia In 10-4 Loss

The University of Scranton baseball team had to play catch-up right from the first inning, but was unable to slow down the Misericordia offense in a 10-4 loss at Volpe Field on Thursday night.

The Cougars (24-10) scored once in the first, three times in the third and twice in the fourth to take control. The Royals (13-15) got within 6-3 after seven innings, but Misericordia put the game away with four runs in the top of the eighth.

The Royals got a pair of singles and a run scored from freshman left fielder Connor Harding (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal Central), a pair of RBIs from junior designated hitter Ian McIntosh (Newtown, Pa./LaSalle College H.S.) and an RBI from senior third baseman Seth Bower (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown). Senior right fielder Sean Haveron (Old Tappan, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) added a double.

The baseball team is back in action on Saturday when the Royals host Moravian in a pivotal Landmark Conference doubleheader at Volpe Field beginning at 12:30 p.m
