Keuka College Sweeps Fighting Tigers in Baseball on Sunday

COBLESKILL, N.Y. — The Keuka College Baseball team extended their winning streak to six games as they swept SUNY Cobleskill in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader on Sunday.

Keuka College (15-12, 8-3 NEAC) won the opening game 9-0 against SUNY Cobleskill. The Wolves then downed the Fighting Tigers 11-0 in five innings in game two on Sunday.

After a scoreless three innings, Keuka College got on the board with a pair of runs in the fourth inning as runs came home on a wild pitch and a bases loaded hit by the pitch, making it 2-0 Wolves.

Keuka College added to their lead in the fifth inning. Alec Bowie (Sparta, N.J. / Sparta) had an RBI single. Anthony Mashewske (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) then extended the lead to 5-0 with a two-run single.

The Wolves got RBI singles by Dave Verrett (Cicero, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse), Sean Sheets (Manchester, N.Y. / Red Jacket), and John Rizzo (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) as the Wolves continued onto the 9-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference victory.

Lead Wolf: Senior Ryan Caroway (Binghamton, N.Y. / Susquehanna Valley) went the distance on the mound for the Wolves. Caroway allowed just two hits and struck out one in pitching the complete game shutout.

Keuka College 11 at SUNY Cobleskill 0 – 5 innings

Keuka College jumped out to the early lead in game two against the Fighting Tigers. Keuka sent 12 batters to the plate in the top of the first inning. The Green and Gold totaled five hits in the frame and scored seven runs as they spotted starting pitcher Daniel Steve (Cortland, N.Y. / Cortland) a 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the first.

The Wolves added to the lead with three runs in the third on RBIs by John Rizzo, Dan Bamann (Rochester, N.Y. / Irondequoit), and Tyler Krowiak (Endwell, N.Y. / Seton Catholic). Tyler Freedman (Rochester, N.Y. / Aquinas) capped the scoring with an RBI double in the fifth inning as the Wolves defeated SUNY Cobleskill 11-0 in five innings.

Lead Wolf: Daniel Steve matched Caroway's game one complete game shutout with one of his own. The freshman also allowed just two hits, but struck out five for Keuka College.
