Chatham Baseball Ends 2018 at Bethany

BETHANY, W.V. – May 5, 2018 – The Chatham University baseball team ended its inaugural season in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on Saturday at Bethany, falling twice to the Bison – 6-4 in game one and 15-1 in game two.

RECORDS: Chatham ends the year at 8-23 (1-17 PAC) while Bethany moves to 11-20 (8-10 PAC).

GAME ONE (Bethany 6, Chatham 4)

AT THE PLATE: The Cougars pounded out 13 hits as sophomore Hunter Steele (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) finished 4-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Senior Carmen Jansante (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) went 1-for-4 with two RBI while sophomores Drew Brannon (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) and George Cedeno (Passaic, N.J./Passaic) both finished 2-for-4.

ON THE MOUND: Sophomore righty Adam Cerar (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic) pitched the first five frames and suffered the loss, allowing two earned runs.

Junior Bryan Crawford (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) tossed the final three innings in relief, fanning two Bison.

GAME TWO (Bethany 15, Chatham 1)

AT THE PLATE: Chatham finished with seven hits as sophomore Michael Roussey (McKees Rocks, Pa./Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) went 2-for-3. Cedeno went 1-for-4 with an RBI double down the left field line in the fifth.

ON THE MOUND: First-year Austin Andonisio (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) suffered the defeat while sophomore Connor Paul (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) threw four innings of relief with two strikeouts.

Sophomore Jake Sweeney (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) and first-year Trevor Salvior (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) both threw one inning out of the bullpen.
