HARWICH, Mass.--Veteran Keystone College head baseball coach Jamie Shevchik could not have ask more of junior pitcher Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point, NC/Heide Trask) Friday evening against Oswego St. in an NCAA regional game at Whitehouse Field.

McFadden struck out 11 batters, scattered five hits and did not allow an earned run, but the Lakers took advantage of three costly errors to pull out a 2-0 victory.

Oswego St., now 28-12, will face top-seeded UMass-Boston, which defeated Ramapo, 2-1, in 10 innings Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., while the Giants will take on Western New England University at 1 p.m.  The winner of Keystone-Western New England will also play the winner of Ramapo-Mitchell at 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening.

As good as McFadden was on the mound, his counterpart, senior Robert Donnelly was equally as impressive.  He struck out six batters and held the Giants to five hits in picking up the complete game victory.  It was the first time since March 9 that Keystone was shutout.

Oswego St. scored its first unearned run in the fifth inning when senior Eli Horton walked, advanced to second on a passed ball and came around to score on a two-out single by senior Zach Whelan.  The Lakers added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth when McFadden hit junior Brandon Nicholson with a pitch with two outs.  Nicholson advanced to second on a throwing error by McFadden on a failed pick-off attempt and came around to score on an infield fielding error.

Keystone's best opportunity to tie the game came in the seventh inning when sophomore Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) walked and advanced to second base on a one-out single by senior Eric Drzewiecki (Hellertown, Pa./Phillipsburg). Kelly and Drzewiecki each moved up a base on a ground out by junior Jandi Peni, but Donnelly ended the scoring threat by getting sophomore Clayton Brooks (Walden, NY/Walden) to ground out.  Brooks, Kelly, Drzewicki, McFadden, and junior Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant) had the hits for Keystone.
