BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.—Freshman pitcher Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) isn't afraid of pressure situations.

After giving up three runs in the first inning, Hinkley settled down and allowed just one run the rest of the way to lead Keystone College to a 6-4 victory over Western New England in an NCAA regional game Saturday afternoon at Hendy Field on the campus of Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Hinkley, who tossed a complete game victory in the championship of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) tournament last Saturday, struck out a season-high nine batters to improve his pitching record to 7-1.

Keystone, now 34-11, will face Ramapo College this evening at 8:00 p.m.  The Roadrunners advanced by defeating Mitchell College (Conn.), 6-0, earlier today.

The Giants overcame a 4-2 deficit by rallying for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Junior Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point, NC/Heide Trask), who finished with two hits, including a double, drove in a run with a single to right center that scored junior Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant), who hit a one-out single and advanced to second on a walk to Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area).

The key hit was then delivered by senior Eric Drzewiecki (Hellertown, Pa./Phillipsburg), who singled to left field with the bases loading to cap off the rally.  Prior to Drzewiecki's two-run single, sophomore Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded that forced in another run.

Drzewiecki, Hussein and sophomore catcher Clayton Brooks (Walden, NY/Walden) each contributed two hits apiece and sophomore Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) and junior Jandi Pena (New York, NY/James Monroe Campus High School) each belted a double for Keystone, which finished with 10 hits.

Early on, it looked as if Hinkley might not get out of the first inning.  He walked the first batter he faced, then hit the next two batters, which loaded the bases for junior Joe Cassella, who drove in the game's first run with an infield single, and junior Ben LaCroix followed with a sacrifice fly.    The Bears added another run when Cassella was caught stealing and junior Erik Lecaire advanced home on the throw.

Keystone added two runs in the third when Pena doubled down the right field line that scored Drzewiecki, who singled.  On the play, Pena moved over to third base on a throwing error by the right fielder and eventually scored on a wild pitch.

Cassella and junior Aaron Rios finished with two hits apiece for Western New England, which ends its 2018 season with a 32-15 record.
