BRIGNONI FIRES TWO-HITTER IN 6-0 WIN OVER #6 MITCHELL

Buzzards Bay, MA: The #5 Ramapo College baseball team stayed alive in the 2018 NCAA Harwich, MA Regional with a 6-0 blanking of #6 Mitchell College and advanced to game twelve of the tournament. The Roadrunners improve to 34-14 overall while the Mariners wrap up the season at 31-10.

Ramapo starting pitcher Jon Brignoni (6-1) fired his second shutout of the season with a complete game two-hitter. He recorded four strikeouts and one walk to earn the win.

In the top of the first inning, Austin Unglaub led off the game with a ground rule double to left field before moving to third on a wild pitch. Anthony Kuzmenko walked before Unglaub would cross home plate on a fielder's choice. Kuzmenko moved to third on an infield throwing error before he later scored as Connor Walsh grounded into a double play for a 2-0 lead.

In the third inning, Walsh drove home two runs with a single through the right side of the infield allowing Unglaub and Kuzmenko to score as the bases loaded before Joe Maugeri scored on the second double play of the game for the Mariners for a 5-0 lead.

Maugeri led off the 8th inning with a single before moving to second on a sac bunt from Walsh. He moved to third on a line out to right-center field before Vincenzo Sita walked to put runners on first and third with two outs. Sita then got caught in a run down between first and second as Maugeri raced home before the final out was made for a 6-0 score.
