The Pacific University baseball team extended its winning streak to six in a row with a doubleheader sweep of Lewis & Clark, 4-0 and 7-3 in 14 innings to begin Northwest Conference play on Saturday in Portland.

The Boxers (8-3) were sparked by its solid performance of starting pitchers Casey Brown in game one and Trevor Quinn in game two. Brown went the distance for his second-straight complete game, scattering five hits and striking out 10 in the shutout win. Quinn went six solid innings, allowing four hits and striking out five in a no decision. He handed the ball off to three relievers, including Bryce Wlodarchak, who pitched the final two innings of one-hit relief in the win. It is the second-straight year that Pacific has had at least a six-game winning streak.
 
The Pioneers (0-6) were kept in check by Brown in game one and left 15 runners on base in the nightcap.
 
Game one was a pitcher's duel for most of the contest until a three-run seventh inning put the Boxers ahead for the final margin. Pacific got on the board in the first inning as the first two batters got aboard on a single and a hit by pitch. Back-to-back groundouts including one by Ryan Krout plated Chase Anderson, who led off the game with a single down the left-field line to start the contest.
 
The Pioneers mounted a threat in the fourth inning, getting a pair of one out singles before Brown got a double play to end the inning.

Pacific picked up some insurance runs for Brown in the seventh, scoring three runs on four hits. Two of the runs came in on a two-RBI single by Dustin Meyer and Anderson followed that up with a RBI single for a 4-0 lead in favor of the visitors.

Brown got his second double play of the game to wrap up the contest. Chase Anderson and Ryan Krout had three and two hits, respectively to lead an eight-hit attack for the Boxers.
 
The nightcap saw Lewis & Clark get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first before Pacific took its first lead of the nightcap, scoring three runs on three hits in the sixth inning. In the inning, Pacific got a RBI double from Eli Wisdom and RBI ground outs by Derek Ridgway and Ian Blair to put the visitors ahead 3-1.

Lewis & Clark managed to tie the game in the eighth with a pair of runs. But, the big play of the inning was when the Boxer center fielder Dylan Morgan threw out the potential go-ahead runner out at the plate to end the inning. The Pioneers had another chance to win it in the bottom of the ninth with one out and runners on first and second before T. Oscarson got out of the jam with a strikeout and a ground out to send the game to extra innings.
 
The two teams stranded runners in the 10^th inning and the Pioneers left the bases loaded in the 12^th inning as Oscarson got out of another jam. With the bases loaded and one out, the Reno, Nevada native got back-to-back strikeouts to prolong the game.
 
In the 13^th, Oscarson handed the ball over to Wlodarchak to shut down the Pioneers. After both teams failed to score in the 13^th, the Pacific offense heated back up in the 14^th as they plated four runs on three hits. Two of the four runs came in on a two out, two RBI single by Ridgway. Wlodarchak got a pair of ground outs and a strikeout to end the game, sending the Boxers back to Forest Grove with its sixth-straight win.  

The two teams will wrap up the weekend series on Sunday with a single game at noon at the Huston Sports Complex.
