FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Hood College's 21-game win streak against teams outside of the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth came to an end in a 5-4 extra-inning loss to Eastern Nazarene. The Blazers jumped back into the win column in the second game of the doubleheader 3-2.

Inside the Box Score

Eastern Nazarene 5, Hood 4 (9 innings)

  • An RBI triple by Connor Simpson in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Lions the win over the Blazers.
  • The loss was the first for the Blazers outside the conference since falling to Marymount (Va.) in the final game of the 2017 season.
  • Hood had taken a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning. Wenner singled home Sawyer and scored himself on a base hit by Copenhaver. Eastern Nazarene tied the game up when Joshua Bombard doubled and scored on a Matthew Urena single in the bottom of the inning.
  • The Lions had taken an early 2-0 lead in the first when Anthony Esposito had an RBI triple and later scored.
