Baruch Splits Season Opening DH Against Rivier (8-2, 0-7)

The Baruch College baseball team started their 2019 schedule on Wednesday afternoon at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Bearcats on their annual Florida trip began by splitting a doubleheader against Rivier College of New Hampshire.

In the first game, Ryan Warner pitched a complete game by allowing only four hits and striking out four in an 8-2 win.

The team broke open the game in the fifth inning with five runs on five hits. Michael McGroarty started with an RBI single, followed later in the inning with a two run single by Gerardo Roque and a two run double by Conor McCabe to comfortably lead, 7-1, en route to the neutral site win.

In the second game, Rivier pitcher Cory Cochran pitched a complete game by limiting the Bearcats to two singles. Jacob Auerbach had the first in the fourth inning and Kemal Deljanin had the second in the fifth inning to account for the base runners.

Rivier scored seven runs on six hits to earn the split in their 7-0 win.
