FREELAND, Mich.--Adrian College Baseball made a sweep of the weekly awards handed out by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association which were announced on Monday, as freshman Max Denny (South Lyon High School) is the MIAA Pitcher of the Week and junior Brady Wood (Frankenmuth High) is the conference's top hitter for the seven-day period ending Sunday. This signals the second career award for Wood, who also earned the honor on May 14, 2018.

Wood helped pace an Adrian offense that averaged 13.7 runs and hit .362 during a 3-0 week on the road that pushed the Bulldogs to 4-1 on the season--their best five-game start since 2012. He led the team with seven hits and tied for the lead with six runs batted while producing a slashline of .500/.533/.500 to improve his season's batting average to .478. The business major had hits in all three games, including a pair of three-hit outings to close the trip, and scored four times.

Denny figured in two of Adrian's three wins while pitching in relief. He had a 1.69 earned-run average and six strikeouts in 5-1/3 innings of work, fanning 10.13 batters per nine innings. The psychology major won his first career game against 19th-ranked Piedmont--9-7 on Tuesday--after entering in the sixth with the score tied, 4-4, giving the Bulldogs a chance to win by holding the 11-4 Lions to no earned runs in 1-1/3 innings. Then he went four innings with one earned run and four strikeouts at Oglethorpe, a 14-8 victory on Friday. He entered that contest with Adrian down 5-3 and effectively quieted the Stormy Petrels bats to give the AC offense a chance to rally for the win. Batters hit only .200 against him.

Adrian makes a return trip to the state of Georgia next weekend when they play at Berry College (Friday, March 15), Cortland State (Saturday, March 16) and Marietta (Sunday, March 17).
