The Baruch College baseball team lost single games to Finlandia University (6-5) and Thiel University (11-3) this weekend in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Bearcats played former CUNYAC associate baseball member Finlandia on Saturday and dug themselves into a hole early after allowing a four-run 1st inning.

The Bearcats managed to quickly cut the score to 4-2 on a Liam O'Gara two-run double and added a third run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly RBI by Anthony Ippolito to make it 4-3.

Finlandia would add on two more runs in the top of the fifth to jump ahead 6-3, but the Bearcats' bats came alive again with two more runs in their bottom fifth. Michael McGroarty had an RBI single and would later come around to score on a wild pitch for a 6-5 score, which stood as the eventual final.

Ashton Knutson pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts for Finlandia from Michigan.

In Sunday's game, the Bearcats lost 11-3 to Thiel of Pennsylvania.

Three Thiel pitchers combined to limit the Bearcats to two hits via singles by Angelo Alessandro and Conor McCabe.

Thiel scored six runs in the second inning, which included a three-run homer by Christian Aldrich.

The Bearcats will wrap up play in Fort Myers on Monday morning with a 9:00 a.m. single contest against Vassar College.
