MISENHEIMER, N.C. - In Saturday's doubleheader, the Piedmont College baseball team posted a pair of wins 5-2 and 8-4 over Pfeiffer. The Lions are 4-0 in conference play and on a nine game win streak.

SAM CARPENTER picked up the win in game one tossing seven innings with 13 strikeouts and allowed only four hits. The 13 strikeouts for Carpenter marked a new career-high for the junior and tied the mark for second-best in the NCAA era for a single game. 

Piedmont took the lead early, but a two-run homerun in the sixth inning tied the game at two. The Lions answered back with three runs on two hits in the seventh inning and left the bases loaded after three pitching changes for the Falcons in the inning. 

The Lions stormed out of the gate in game two with four runs over the first two innings and claimed an 8-0 lead in the sixth inning. The Falcons fought back in the final three innings but were unable to complete the comeback. 

Turning Point
--Carpenter's dominance on the mound established the tone for the contest early.
--The Lions never trailed in either contest. 

Standout Performances
--SAM CARPENTER posted 13 strikeouts in the contest for a new career-high mark. 
--ANDREW BURDEN posted a pair of hits in both games with three RBI and one walk. 

Inside the Box Score
--The two teams had a combined six errors in the game with Pfeiffer having five and Piedmont posting just one. 

News & Notes
--The Lions were outhit in the first contest 7-6 and both teams posted eight hits in game two.
