Pfeiffer Baseball Wins Series With 8-3 Win Over WPU

 The Pfeiffer University baseball team earned an 8-3 win over William Peace University, taking the USA South series at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, N.C. on Sunday afternoon.

THE BASICS
Pfeiffer scored three runs in the seventh and added three insurance runs in the ninth inning to take the 8-3 conference win.

The Falcons opened the scoring in the second inning when Bryan Kowalski delivered a sacrifice fly that plated Blake Winebarger, making it 1-0.

Pfeiffer made it 2-0 in the sixth inning, this time on a Hayden McGraw single that drove in Zach Ferrell.

Pfeiffer then struck for three runs in the seventh top push the lead to 5-1 with Bryce Marsh scoring on a fielder's choice. Ira Dorin then hit an RBI double followed by a Kowalski RBI single

WPU struck for two runs in their half of the seventh, but the Falcons added three more in the ninth inning.  Dorin and McGraw each had singles in the inning, with Dorin collecting an RBI, while McGraw had two.

Falcon pitcher Matt Moser improved to 3-0 on the season, as he pitched 5.0 innings scattering two hits and struck out three batters.
