Merchant Marine Academy Defeats Baruch (10-2)

The Baruch College Bearcats team lost 10-2 to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY this afternoon.

The Bearcats fell behind in the first inning with the Mariners jumping out to a 4-0 lead. They got a run back in the third when Jorge Keith Mercado singled and drove in Michael McGroarty.

Nicholas Altopiedi drove in the other Bearcat run in the 8th inning, drawing a walk with the bases loaded to bring home Gerardo Roque.

The Bearcats failed to make the most of their opportunities, leaving 13 runners on base.

Theodore Avgerinos had a strong outing in relief for the Bearcats. The junior struck out five batters in 3.2 innings while not allowing an earned run. 

The Bearcats will resume action on Tuesday, March 26, when they host New Jersey City University at MCU Park in Brooklyn, NY at 3:30 PM.
