Benedictine Tallies Second Straight Shutout

AUBURNDALE, FL - Stephen Sewruk improved to 2-0 on the season by striking out 14 as the Benedictine University baseball team claimed a third consecutive win in Florida by blanking Anderson on Wednesday.

THE DETAILS
Sewruk was in control from the beginning, striking out the side in the first inning after walking the leadoff batter and did not allow another baserunner until the fifth, sitting down 12 in a row
Benedictine handed Sewruk all the run support he needed early, scoring a run in the bottom of the first and two in the second
Michael Chaffin recorded a double with one away and scored on an error
Cameron Falk led off the second with a triple and Chase Patterson doubled him home
Patterson stole third and crossed the plate on a balk
Ty Liaromatis followed in the steps of Sewruk by striking out the side in the eighth and Marty Maves worked the ninth to notch his third save
Benedictine is 4-1 on the trip, two of the wins have come in starts by Sewruk

STAT LEADERS
Sewruk worked seven innings and allowed just two hits while walking one, striking out a batter in every inning while fanning the side on three occasions
Jack Feeley tallied two hits for Benedictine, who posted five in the contest, three of which went for extra bases
