LOS ANGELESJack Brancheau and the Oxy offense exploded in an easy 12-4 win over Principia in eight innings at Anderson Field on Wednesday.

Brancheau, a senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., was a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate with a home run, two doubles, three runs scored and six RBIs as the designated hitter. He doubled in the fourth inning, bringing in a run to put Oxy up 7-4, and then followed it up with a three-run homer in the sixth to blow the game open.

Brancheau now has a team-best four homers on the season and is hitting .406. The only Oxy player with a batter batting average is Reid Gibbs, who went 2 for 4 with three runs scored and a double. Gibbs is now up to .448 on the season and has a 14-game hitting streak.

Brancheau and Gibbs weren't the only Tigers to catch fire. Eamon McNeil went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, Michael Ingram was 2 for 3 with a homer, a double and two runs scored, Angelo Zorn was 1 for 2 with two runs and an RBI, and Jake Fredrickson doubled.

Principia got all four of its runs in the top of the third, but was shut down in every other inning. Matthew Geiger started the game, going three innings, and then Bryce Coyne, Justin Hirschberg and Cade Denyer combined for five scoreless innings of relief. The Tigers pitchers were very accurate once again, striking out 13 batters with just one walk.

Oxy also played solid defense in the field, committing no errors.

The game, which was originally scheduled for last Sunday, had a 45-minute delay after the first inning due to lightning in the area.

Season Impact: Oxy improves to 15-4 overall on the year.

Principia falls to 3-6.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday at 3 p.m. at Anderson Field.
