DANVILLE, Ky. - The Sewanee baseball team earned a split of its doubleheader with Centre to start a three-game series. The Tigers fell to the Colonels 14-4 in game one before rallying to win the nightcap, 3-2, Saturday afternoon from Oary Wright Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-Despite the Tigers scoring the first run of the game on a Chris McNulty sacrifice fly, the Colonels scored nine runs in the first five innings.
-Sewanee tacked on single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. In the sixth, Tyler Dunbar scorched an RBI double.
-In the seventh, Trey Akins recorded a sacrifice fly to score Garrett Liebe.
-Dunbar laced another RBI double in the eighth, but in the bottom half of the frame, the home team scored five times to secure the 14-4, run-rule victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-The second game was more of a defensive battle. The Colonels would scratch across a run in the fourth inning.
-The Tigers responded in the next half inning. With two runners on and one out, Jake Woolard recorded a triple down the right field line to score two runs, Josh Roberts and Jack Ahlum.
-Following a pitching change, Riley Brandvold sent a base hit to left field that resulted in an RBI.
-Leading 3-1, Centre would tack on a run in the sixth, but in the seventh, Danny McDonnell, despite pitching into trouble, had the backup from his defense, as the final two outs were recorded on a double play to seal the save.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Braxton Swanson and Tyler Dunbar recorded two hits each in game one of the doubleheader. Dundar added two RBI, while Swanson scored twice.
-Riley Brandvold notched a hit in each game to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
-Jackson Cook (0-2) started game one and pitched two innings.
-Dalton Buckingham (3-1) won the second game for the Tigers, and Danny McDonnell notched his fifth save.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Will Kirk led the Colonels with three hits on the day, two coming in game one.
-Sam Shelley (4-1) tossed seven innings in game one, allowing three earned runs and struck out three.
