Hussein Hits Leadoff Homer in Keystone's 4-1 Loss at Kean

UNION, N.J. - Senior Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant) hit a leadoff home run for the Keystone College baseball team on Sunday afternoon but the Giants fell to host Kean University 4-1 in non-conference action at Jim Hynes Stadium.

With the loss, Keystone drops to 3-6 on the year and the Giants will travel to Rutgers Camden on Tuesday, March 26 at 3:30 p.m., with the contest being played in Aston, Pa. at the Maplezone Sports Institute. The Cougars improve to 12-6 overall.

Hussein launched an 0-2 pitch over the left field fence to give the Giants the early 1-0 lead. The senior finished 1-for-3 on the day.

The Giants tallied seven hits on the day as senior Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) finished 2-for-4 and senior Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point, NC/Heide Trask)went 2-for-3. Panzarella is hitting .436 on the year (17-for-39).

Senior Ronald Medina (Bronx, NY/Dewitt Clinton) and junior Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) both went 1-for-4, as Carlini finished with a double.

McFadden earned the start on the mound and suffered the defeat, going 5 ⅔ frames, allowing four hits and just one earned run while walking six. The Giants made four errors on Sunday.

Junior Evan Plante (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers) and senior Luke McDonagh (Carmel, NY/Carmel) appeared out of the bullpen.

For Kean, Tyler Hopman went the distance, striking out eight Giants.
