LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Sewanee baseball team wrapped up its non-conference competition play on the road Tuesday afternoon with a 9-4 setback against the Scots of Covenant College. With the loss, the mountain rivals split their regular season series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the third, Riley Brandvold got the Tigers on the board with an RBI base hit, extending his hitting streak to 13 games.
-The Scots responded in the bottom half with an eight-run frame, capped by a three-run homer by Brooks DuBose.
-Sewanee attempted a rally in the sixth and seventh. In the sixth, Chris McNulty scored the third run for the Tigers on a wild pitch.
-In the seventh, Sewanee tacked on two more runs. Jake Woolard scored on a groundout by Brandvold. Trey Akins followed with an RBI single to score Max Murray.
-Covenant would hold on to the lead by adding a run in the eighth.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Braxton Swanson recorded a three-hit day with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.
-The hitting streak was extended to 13 games for Riley Brandvold as he also drove in two RBI.
-Jake Woolard scored twice for the Tigers.
-Justin Lavender (1-2) allowed three earned runs in 2.1 innings.
COVENANT KEY STATISTICS
-Brooks DuBose recorded a 2-for-3 day at the plate with two runs scored and three RBI.
-Warner Adcock (1-0) tossed two perfect innings in relief to secure the win.

With the current road trip in the books, the Tigers step back into conference play this weekend with a three-game series against cross-state rival Rhodes at Montgomery Field. The series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday.
