Adrian's Brandon Cooper Makes Debut as MIAA Position Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich.--Adrian College sophomore outfielder Brandon Cooper (Ann Arbor Huron High School) makes his inaugural appearance as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week, the MIAA office announced on Monday.

Cooper paced Adrian's 4-1 week that included a four-game weekend sweep of Alma College in batting average (.471), runs batted in (7), total bases (15) and slugging (.882). He also had a .526 on-base percentage and scored five runs.

He went 4-for-7, including a double, triple and home run, with six RBI during Sunday's doubleheader against the Scots won by the Bulldogs, 11-4 and 18-0. In the seventh inning of the first game, he raced around the bases for a two-run, inside-the-park home run to left field.

In his first season as a starter, the exercise science major is second on the team and fourth in the MIAA with a .444 batting average. Cooper's other conference rankings include second in both hits (20) and runs (17), fourth in total bases (28), fourth in slugging (.622) and seventh in on-base percentage (.500).
