More news about: Baruch

The Baruch College Bearcats lost 7-4 to the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University this afternoon at MCU Park in Brooklyn.

The Bearcats went down 4-0 before their bats woke up in the fourth inning. Liam O'Gara hit a double to drive in Gerardo Roque and Nicholas Valeriano, cutting New Jersey City's lead in half.

Matthew Lawlor relieved early and helped keep the Bearcats in the game. The sophomore struck out five batters in 4.2 innings of work, while allowing just two runs.

Freshman Steven Patterson picked up his first career RBI in the seventh, driving in Kemal Deljanin and cutting New Jersey City's lead to 6-3.

Angelo Alessandro doubled to lead off the eighth inning and eventually scored, getting the Bearcats to within two runs.

However, the Gothic Knights added an insurance run in the top of the ninth, and the Baruch comeback fell short.

The Bearcats start their conference schedule this Friday, when they travel to the Bronx to play Lehman College at 3:30 PM.
