Bison right ship with offensive explosion

The Nichols College baseball team defeated Anna Maria 18-5 in a non-conference game at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Massachusetts.

Nichols (9-7) fell behind 4-1 after two innings of play before exploding for 17 runs over the next seven innings, led by a three-hit effort from junior Christian Naccari (3-for-6) including a two-run homer in the fifth inning, his sixth of the year. Sophomore Nathaniel Cormier (4-for-6) took a ball over the fence to deep left field to drive in three runs and extend the Bison's lead to 12-4 in the seventh inning.

The Bison used seven total pitchers in the game with freshman Isaac Blanford ultimately ended up with the win, his second of the season, after going 2.2 innings giving up no runs, on no hits while punching out four batters. Anna Maria (8-11) was led by Jake Crevier who picked up three hits (3-for-4) while driving in one run and scoring another.
 
Three things you need to know…
-Reigning Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week freshman David Caron went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored.
-Naccari leads the CCC in home runs (6) and RBI (25).
-Caron and Cormier are tied for the CCC lead in stolen bases, both with eight.
