Kalamazoo's Brockhaus Throws One-Hit Shutout at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team won its MIAA opener 7-0 at Adrian Monday night.

The host Bulldogs, ranked as high as No. 8 in the nation in one poll and No. 15 in the D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25, took their first conference loss of the season (4-1) and fourth overall (11-4).

Kalamazoo (3-7, 1-0) had two runners on with two outs in the top of the third when the Hornets took advantage of three consecutive singles to take a 4-0 lead. 

The Hornets added a run in the fifth and two more in the seventh to score a total of seven runs on 10 hits.

Jordan WileyChase Coselman, and Alex Fultz each had two hits in the game. Wiley scored twice while stealing three bases in the game. Coselman and Fultz each drove in two runs.

Jack Brockhaus went the distance on the mound earning his first collegiate win with a one-hit shutout. Adrian's Korey Mazur had the Bulldogs only hit, a triple in the second inning. Brockhaus struck out nine while walking five.

Monday night's game was the first of two rescheduled games from Saturday, March 30. The two teams meet again Tuesday night in Adrian at 7:30 p.m. to play the 9-inning game. The doubleheader in Kalamazoo is scheduled for April 16 at 2 p.m.
