KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — Tyler Broderick (State College, Pa. / Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy) hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth to complete the sweep as Keuka College took a pair from Penn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Kuhl Field.
In a pair of one-run games, Keuka College (8-11, 3-2 NEAC) defeated Penn College 2-1 in game one and 5-4 in game two.
Keuka College 2 vs. Penn College 1 – Game One
After a scoreless three and a half innings between the Wolves and the Wildcats, Keuka pulled ahead in the bottom of the fourth inning. With one out, Tyler Broderick singled to centerfield. He was moved to second on a bunt. Anthony Mashewske (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) followed with his second single of the game, a ball over third base that he beat out. The throw from the third baseman was late and wide, allowing pinch runner Nick Kocjan (Canajoharie, N.Y. / Canajoharie) to score from second to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats would answer in the next half inning with a run to tie the game at 1-1.
Anthony Brown (Schenectady, N.Y. / Schenectady) led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a single through the right side. He was moved to second on a bunt by Mashewske and scored on a double down the left field line by Dave Verrett (Cicero, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse) to put Keuka ahead 2-1.
Penn College threatened in the top of the seventh with a leadoff double. After bunting the runner to third, the Wildcats hit a ball in the second base hole, but Anthony Brown made a diving stop, holding the runner at third. Keuka would hold the tying run at third base as they won game one 2-1.
Lead Wolves: Both Anthony Brown and Anthony Mashewske went 2-2 in game one with a pair of singles apiece. Brown and Mashewske each also had sacrifice bunts in the win.
Keuka College 5 vs. Penn College 4 – Game Two
Penn College turned three hits in the top of the first inning into two runs as the Wildcats jumped out to the early lead in game two. The Wolves had a base runner in each of the first three innings, but it would be until the fourth that Keuka cashed the runner in. Nick Brown (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) doubled down the left field line to score Anthony Brown, cutting the Wildcats lead to 2-1.
The Wildcats answered with single runs in the top of the fifth and sixth innings. Keuka College got one run back, scoring on a wild pitch, but trailed 4-2 going to the bottom of the seventh inning.
With one out, Tyler Freedman (Rochester, N.Y. / Aquinas Institute) tripled to right field and scored on a single by Dan Bamann (Rochester, N.Y. / Irondequoit). With two outs, Tyler Broderick and Anthony Brown hit back-to-back singles to score Bamann and tie the game.
Penn College threatened with runners on second and third in the top of the ninth, but were unable to score as the game went to the bottom of the ninth. Tyler Freedman led off the inning with a double to right center field. Dan Bamann was intentionally walked behind him. Tyler Krowiak (Endwell, N.Y. / Seton Catholic) laid down a bunt single to load the bases, sending Tyler Broderick to the plate. The junior sent a ball deep to left field that scored Freedman to give the Wolves a 5-4 walkoff victory.
Lead Wolf: Tyler Freedman set the table for Keuka College tying the game and taking the lead with his triple and double in the late innings. The seventh inning triple was the sixth of his career, moving into a tie for fifth most in school history.

- It was the first time that there was a doubleheader sweep in the series
- Of Keuka's five wins over Penn College, three were by one run and two were by two runs
- Tyler Broderick walked the Wolves off for the second time in his career. He hit a walkoff single to defeat Juniata last season
- The Keuka College pitching staff struck out six in game one and seven in game two. On the season, the Wolves have 129 strikeouts already, seventh best in program history
Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will step out of conference play on Tuesday with a single game at Alfred State. The Wolves will then return to Kuhl Field on Wednesday as they complete their three-game North Eastern Athletic Conference series with Penn College. First pitch for the nine-inning game between the Wolves and Wildcats is schedule for 3:30pm.
