Bison sweep Colonels in CCC doubleheader

The Nichols College baseball team swept Curry College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader at Jack Valley Diamond in Milton, Massachusetts.

Game one – Nichols 5, Curry 3
The Bison (12-10, 2-4 CCC) were led offensively by senior Joe Assenza who knocked in one RBI, via a solo home run in the fourth inning, which tied the game at one apiece. Assenza also picked up two hits (2-for-4) and scored two runs. Junior Christian Naccari (1-for-3) drove in two runs on a walk with the bases loaded in the sixth inning, and a single through the right side in the eighth inning. Freshman Brendan Duffy improved to 3-0 on the season after pitching eight innings, and giving up three runs (two earned) on eight hits, while striking out eight batters.

Game two – Nichols 4, Curry 2
Nichols was paced offensively in game two with a three hit, two RBI effort from Assenza (3-for-5), including a two-run homer in the seventh inning. Junior Kyle Bouchard hit a home run himself, immediately following Assenza's two-run shot in the seventh to extend the Bison's (13-10. 3-4 CCC) lead to 4-0 over the Colonels (7-13-1, 1-4-1 CCC). Junior Jack Dicenso received the win to improve to 2-1 on the year after a six inning, three hit effort, including five strikeouts.

Assenza had two home-runs on the day, raising his career home run total to four.
