La PLUME, Pa. - Following a two-hour rain delay, the CSAC doubleheader between Keystone College and visiting Valley Forge was able to be played as the Giants won the opener, 10-1, followed by a 7-5 win in game two.
The Giants improve to 17-12 (10-1 CSAC) while the Patriots fall to 6-21 (1-10 CSAC). The three-game series will conclude at Valley Forge tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
Game One: Keystone 10, Valley Forge 1
The Giants scored in every inning and enjoyed 11 hits in the opener.
Senior Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point, NC/Heide Trask) finished 2-for-3 with two RBI while senior Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant) went 2-for-2 with two runs and two walks. Hussein earned the start and his third win of the spring, tossing five innings while striking out six and allowing just two hits.
Junior Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run while senior Johann Paniagua (Bronx, NY/James Monroe Campus High School) went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Freshman Devin Reed (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) drove in two runs and junior Joe Fichera (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
Senior Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) drove in one run and scored twice and junior Ryan Callahan (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Junior Matt Tarabola (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) pitched the final two frames, scattering two hits.
Game Two: Keystone 7, Valley Forge 5
The Giants opened up a 7-0 lead before a five-run seventh inning rally by the Patriots made the game interesting. Junior Zabdiel Parilla (Reading, Pa./Reading) came in to slam the door and earn his second save of the year.
Sophomore Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) earned the start and his third win of the spring, as the righty threw six innings and struck out 10 Patriots, allowing just three hits. Junior Sean Perry (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) also appeared in relief.
At the plate, Keystone finished with eight hits as Hussein went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Carlini went 2-for-3 with two runs and senior Anthony Ferrezza (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) finished 1-for-3 with one run.
Senior Ronald Medina (Bronx, NY/Dewitt Clinton) went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Panzarella and Paniagua both drove in one run each. Sophomore RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) went 1-for-2.
